Ziaeefard, Saeedeh

Biography

Dr. Saeedeh Ziaeefard (Zia) graduated from Michigan Technological University with a Master's and a Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering, focusing on control theory and autonomous systems. Her main focus during her graduate studies was improving the maneuverability of underwater vehicles. She joined the Ohio State University in August 2018 as a faculty member.

Before attending Michigan Tech, she earned a Master's degree in Ocean Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology (AUT), Tehran. She studies naval architecture, hydromechanics, and wave theory. Dr. Zia worked in the shipbuilding and offshore industry for six years before moving to the United States.

Dr. Zia is the Capstone course Coordinator at the ECE department. She is a huge proponent of collaborating with industry partners. The Capstone Program can accommodate various projects, timelines, and budgets within the field of Electrical and Computer Engineering.

Dr. Zia is the faculty advisor of the underwater robotic team at the Ohio State university. She is also the advisor for the FIRST Robotic Mentorship Program course hosted by FIRST® Alumni & Robotics at Ohio State (FROS) where students will learn both mentorship and robotics fundamentals from both the course instructors as well as senior OSU students engaged with FIRST
