In the growing effort to expand outreach for the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering research at The Ohio State University, a new voice came on board.

Journalist Mike Huson now joins ECE Public Relations Coordinator, Ryan Horns, and his team, which already includes student PR Writer, Lydia Freudenberg. Huson's duties primarily focus on assisting the Ohio State Institute for Materials Research (IMR), with an additional commitment to ECE.

IMR is an interdisciplinary institute, working across colleges and departments at Ohio State to facilitate, promote and coordinate research and infrastructure related to the science and engineering of materials in the creation of new technology.

"I spent more than a year and a half at the Columbus Dispatch, covering a diverse range of news and events in central Ohio, as well as breaking news in the city, as a reporting intern on the metro desk," Huson said. "I also served two editor positions at our university’s student newspaper, The Lantern. I studied journalism and geography Ohio State, and earned an associate degree in communication studies from Sinclair Community College in Dayton, Ohio."

For IMR, Huson will begin circulating newsletters, kicking out a steady stream of stories, photos and videos on imr.osu.edu, and through its social media channels. Connect with IMR and follow along on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram and YouTube. He will also assist the ECE department crafting articles to promote research, faculty and events.

Huson is stationed at both Scott Lab and Nanotech West. ECE faculty may reach out to Huson to submit story ideas at: huson.4@osu.edu.
