Professor’s photographs chosen for Ohio State exhibition

Globetrotting Ohio State students, faculty and staff have traveled for business and pleasure and along the way snapped visuals of the world around them. The best 41 images, are on display in the Ohio Union through the end of December as part of the International Photography Exhibition, sponsored by the Ohio State Office of International Affairs. The exhibit is also available online

Two photographs by Paul Berger, professor of electrical and computer engineering, received honorable mentions in the show.

Berger has traveled to 26 countries in his role as lecturer and professor. While in India delivering a keynote speech at a microelectronics symposium and visiting his daughter, who was a Rotary exchange student outside Mumbai, he took a boat ride on a lake in Udaipur and encountered women washing themselves along the shore.

“There’s so much going on there, you just have to be ready to react. It’s hard to get a photo that has so much going on,” he said.

Of his passion for photography, he said, “It’s a great diversion from all the engineering, science and math we do.”

About the photograph: “Girls of Rajasthan” by Paul Berger was taken in Mount Abu, India.

"On a walk about Mt. Abu, I encountered these multi-colored girls on the way to a lookout spot. Each one had a different reaction to my lens," says Berger.
