Jim Jones and Margaret Dodd retire
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering recently celebrated the longtime service of two retiring staff members, Jim Jones and Margaret Dodd.
Jones was commended for his excellent work in support of research and teaching; his skill and dedication in installing, repairing and maintaining sensitive cleanroom equipment; and the caring attitude he exhibited when working with faculty, staff and students. He is well-known and highly-regarded by the many undergraduate and graduate students who conducted research in the laboratories under his care.
In addition to his service at Ohio State, Jones was a member of the United States Navy from 1967 to 1971, and is a veteran of the Vietnam War. He graduated with a BSEET from LeTourneau University in Texas.
Margaret Dodd, former assistant to the chair, retired in November 2011 after twelve years of service to the department, and 15 years at Ohio State. Dodd joined the department in November 1999.
In addition to serving as the chair’s assistant, Dodd also served as office manager; handled mail, telephone equipment and service requests; and was the building coordinator for Dreese Labs.
Dodd was commended for her caring attitude towards students and visitors, her service to ECE Chair Robert Lee and former chair Yuan Zheng, and her thoughtful and careful decision-making. She holds an MBA and BA from Indiana University.
