MS
General Admission
General admission to a graduate program at Ohio State requires the equivalent of a 3.0/4.0 scale cumulative GPA.
All previous post-secondary credits are considered in the admission review.
Direct Admit
Ohio State ECE undergraduates who have completed at least 50 credits at Ohio State and have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.2 are eligible for direct admission with a complete application. This means, ECE undergraduates that have met the requirements and have a complete application, do not go through the competitive review process; admission is posted once the application is complete.
The ECE graduate application requires two recommendations, with at least one being from an ECE faculty member.
Combined Degree Program (BSMS)
OSU undergrads who have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher (transfer credits considered in the GPA calculation) and have completed 90 credits, by the admission semester (transfer credits included), are eligible to apply to the Combined Degree Program to count 5000-level credits toward a BS and a MS, not to exceed 12 credits.
Admission is required prior to the semester of enrollment in combined credits.
A student is charged at the graduate rate for all credits once admitted.
Senior Petition credits
OSU undergraduates with a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher (only OSU GPA is considered) are eligible to take up to 9 credits for graduate credit only; these credits do not count toward the BS degree. A student is charged at the undergraduate rate.
A Senior Petition is approved by the Undergraduate Advisor, the College of Engineering, and the Graduate School no later than the first week of classes.
Once a student is admitted to a graduate program, a Transfer of Graduate Credit form is submitted online for the credits to apply to the graduate degree.
Graduate admission is not guaranteed with the approval of senior petition credits.
