Industrial Level Advisory Board

The Industrial Advisory Board (IAB) is an independent body advising and supporting the chair of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering through continual development and improvement of services. Duties of the board include:

  • Helping with academic planning and accreditation; providing input on research directions.
  • Increasing the national international prominence of the department.
  • Providing advice on curricular issues, making sure courses remain relevant to practicing electrical and computer engineers.
  • Continually recruiting high-quality undergraduate and graduate students.

He is widely published, including McGraw Hill's "Communication Satellite Antennas" and holds 32 patents. He was honored as the 2015 ECE Distinguished Alumni and is an ECE Adjunct Professor. Ramesh Krishnamurthy

Mr. Krishnamurthy is currently an independent consultant. He previously worked at Intel Corporation in Engineering and Management positions for over 24 years.  At Intel he started as a CAD developer for microprocessor design followed by development and deployment of advanced tools and methodologies for DFT, as a Design Manager delivered Server Chipsets and then Program Manager, he managed definition to delivery of Server Platforms.  He later served as Design and Business Operations for Intel Custom Foundry. He is currently a Senior Member of the IEEE.

Frederick N. Lancia II

Senior Account Manager with Broadcom Limited, located in Seattle, Washington. He is part of Broadcom’s worldwide Data Center Sales Team.  Mr. Lancia has been involved with the semiconductor industry for more than thirty years.  Within the semiconductor industry, Mr. Lancia has held engineering, marketing, and sales positions.  He has worked with both large companies (AMD, Fujitsu, Broadcom) and venture capital financed start-up companies.  He has lived and worked mostly in the United States however also briefly in Singapore where he interfaced with partners in Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, China, and Israel.  Mr. Lancia completed an MBA at the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, a MSEE at Stanford University, and a BSEE at The Ohio State University.

She is a recipient of the 2016 National Women of Color Technology Rising Star Award. She is also the 2015 recipient of the Texnikoi Outstanding Alumni from the College of Engineering.

Felix Miranda, PhD

Deputy Chief of the Communications and Intelligent Systems Division at the NASA Glenn Research Center in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Miranda is a Fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), a member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), a member of the American Physical Society (APS), and a member of the Forum of Industrial and Applied Physicists (FIAP). His areas of expertise are antenna technology and microwave components, circuits and devices for space and aeronautics communications. He has authored or co-authored more than 210 journal and conference publications in his areas of expertise, has written several book chapters, is the co-editor of several conference proceeding volumes on ferroelectric materials and devices, and is the Co-Editor of the book Advanced Nanomaterials for Aerospace Applications, (Pan Stanford Publishing, 2014). He is the Co-Inventor of 15 U.S. patents. Dr, Miranda is an Associate Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Antennas and Propagation. He is the recipient of the 2007 NASA Exceptional Service Medal for outstanding technical and managerial leadership in antenna and microwave technologies for space communications. Dr. Miranda received the 2007 R&D100 Award from the R&D Magazine for the development of an Antenna Near-Field Probe Station Scanner. He is the recipient of the 2010 R&D100 Award from the R&D Magazine for the development of a thin film ferroelectric high-resolution scanning reflectarray antenna for aerospace communications and received the 2015 R&D100 Award for the development of a Polyimide Aerogel-Based Antenna.

Mike Pekar

Raytheon Intelligence and Space, Engineering Director, Surveillance & Networks Systems, based in McKinney, TX. Mike joined Raytheon in 2015. Prior to joining Raytheon, Pekar worked at ATK, Alliant Techsystems based in Dayton, OH, serving a variety of roles including the Vice President of the ATK Military System Group (2011-2015), Director of Engineering (2009-2011), and Electrical Engineering Manager. Pekar previously worked for Hughes Space & Communications / Boeing Corporation (1996-2004), where he began his career. He is a graduate of The Ohio State University, having earned his BS (1993) and MS (1995) in electrical engineering. Pekar additionally received his MBA from Wright State University, has co-authored 4 patent disclosures, serves as an Adjunct Professor at Johns Hopkins University, and is a member of the IEEE Antennas & Propagation Society.

Jim Ward, PhD

Associate Head of the Communication Systems Division at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Lincoln Laboratory. He has over 30 years of experience developing advanced communications, radar, and surveillance systems. His areas of expertise include communications, signal processing, adaptive beamforming, detection and estimation. He is a Fellow of the IEEE, has served on the National Academy Naval Studies Board and Air Force Scientific Advisory Board panels. Jim holds a Lecturer position with the MIT EECS Department. He received the M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from Ohio State.

Manager of Applied Motion Control - Product Development, FANUC America Corporation in Rochester Hills, Michigan.  He earned his BS, MS, and PhD degrees in Electrical Engineering at The Ohio State University.  He joined FANUC in 1992.  He has 25 years of industrial robot product development experience.  He manages development of advanced robot motion control software, including areas such as interference avoidance, multiple robots coordination, press to press machines and robots synchronization, haptic teach pendant, secondary encoder accurate robot control, IIOT ready paint robots to prevent production down time.

CTO for Lake Shore Cryogenics's innovative product development group. He leads a team of engineers and scientists to develop measurement solutions for the physics and nanotechnology community. The growing IP and product portfolio includes sensors, electronic instrumentation, hardware platforms, and software solutions. Yano's focus is identifying strategic challenges and building high performance teams to turn those challenges into high value products. He is a graduate of The Ohio State University, earning an Electrical Engineering B.S. in 1999 and a M.S. in 2000. While at Ohio State, he was a member of the ElectroScience Laboratory.
