The Ohio State’s College of Engineering (COE)

The Ohio State’s College of Engineering strives to provide an environment of new ideas and concepts that can prepare students to be key contributors to society through their technological, professional and personal skills.

Ohio State’s graduate and undergraduate engineering programs are both ranked No. 1 among all Ohio universities and 16th among public universities according to U.S. News & World Report. The College of Engineering ranks 3rd in the country for industry research and development expenditures, according to the National Science Foundation. Ohio State also ranks 6th in the nation among public universities in private support, which was more than $532 million for fiscal year 2017, when College of Engineering and Knowlton School of Architecture private support exceeded $51 million.

The College of Engineering counts eleven different academic programs:

With more than 343 full-time faculty members and 13 National Academy of Engineering members, the College of Engineering is committed to ensuring faculty can achieve the highest levels of academic and research excellence. Innovation and cross-disciplinary initiatives in education and research are encouraged and new discovery themes across a broad range of applications and scientific disciplines are created to expand research interests and make a positive impact in new different fields every day.

The Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department

The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department’s purpose, as emphasized in its Strategic Plan, is to disseminate and advance the science and technology of electrical and computer engineering for the well-being of the people of Ohio and the global community. Among the many attributes of our teaching, research, and service activities, we particularly value the pursuit of excellence, innovative solutions to engineering problems, a collegial, creative, and supportive learning environment, enrichment by diversity and service to humanity.

As part of department strategy we actively look and support participation in multi-disciplinary teams even beyond engineering and physical science as proven by the several projects we have ongoing with the Medical Center, Business and Economics Department and Education.
