STEM Volunteer Opportunity at COSI

All dates for this event occur in the past.

As Electrical and Computer Engineers, we have an innate interest in technology and most likely a desire to spread the word among the next generation of Engineer youth.

Fortunately, The Ohio State University Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering has a STEM Outreach All Star in Professor Betty Lise Anderson. Since she started her K-12, hands-on-experience program, her efforts have reached over 20,000 prospective future Engineers to spark their interest and demystify Engineering concepts (https://www.ece.osu.edu/about/outreach and http://www2.ece.ohio-state.edu/~anderson/Outreach.html).

Prof. Anderson has expressed a need for volunteers to assist in two of her biggest events this May in the Columbus area.

Volunteers are needed to assist kids in completing their project and witness them being amazed at creating something from scratch that demonstrates Engineering principles. Hopefully, with this experience, an opportunity in Engineering, or other STEM career field, is opened up as a possibility for them.

Join us May 4 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. to help. The day is part of the COSI Big Science Celebration. Ohio State ECE is manning a booth, and 700-1,000 kids will come by and do a hands-on jumping jacks activity (http://www2.ece.ohio-state.edu/~anderson/Outreach_JumpingJack.html).

We need four or five people for each hour. Volunteers will help demonstrate the activity and spread the love of STEM!

Please see https://alumnigroups.osu.edu/ece/event/volunteer-opportunity-cosi-big-sc... to follow the registration link to sign up for as many hours as you can assist.

(No RSVP is needed from the meetup.com event.)
