Join us Tuesday, Jan. 29 at 6 p.m. at the ElectroScience Lab at 1330 Kinnear Ave. for an evening of camaraderie, networking and learning more about the great research coming out of of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering through the ongoing MeetUp social/tech series.

Event Details:

We have enjoyed Prof. Joel Johnson’s support for our events during his
tenure as ECE Department Chair, so it is fitting that we should see
the “other side” of Prof. Johnson by getting exposed to his research
activities. Located out of the ElectroScience Lab, Prof. Johnson has a variety of research related to utilizing microwave remote sensing to assist in measuring a variety of environmental factors, from Ice Sheet Subsurface Temperature Sensing to sea surface thermal emission and hydrodynamics. Most recently, he has spearheaded groundbreaking capability to remove the microwave interference generated on Earth (https://ece.osu.edu/news/2018/10/cuberrt-little-satellite-could) to assist in these measurements.

In addition, while we are at the ESL, we will have the opportunity to
meet the new ESL Director, Dr. Richard Ridgway
(https://ece.osu.edu/news/2018/09/electroscience-laboratory-welcomes-new…) and hear his plans for continuing and expanding the esteemed reputation of the ElectroScience Lab.

Agenda:

6:00 6:30: Refreshments and mingling

6:30-7:00: Meet Dr. Richard Ridgway, new ESL Director

7:00-7:30: Prof. Joel Johnson overview of research activities
