Elevator Pitch Practice: SWE Career Fair

All dates for this event occur in the past.

Get ready for the Society of Women Engineers' Career Fair (open to all engineers) with drop-in practice led by the ECE advising/program coordinator team.

Have you created your "Elevator Pitch" for the recruiters at the fair? Each of you should create a 30-second brief introduction to let recruiters know your experience and skills.

Tuesday, Jan. 30 from 9:30 a.m. to noon in the Dreese Lab Lobby

THE ELEVATOR PITCH
Introduce yourself
What do you offer?
Why you are interested in this company or industry the person represents?
What are the main contributions you can make?
WRITE YOUR OWN ELEVATOR PITCH.

Example:
A short summary that describes who you are, what you do, what you want to do, and how you can be a resource to your listeners.

Answering these questions should help you write an elevator pitch:

“Hello I am Mary Jones. I am a junior attending The Ohio State
University. My major is in mechanical engineering, and I am
interested in pursuing a career in the automotive industry. In
my current role as the transmission team leader for Ohio State’s
Buckeye Bullet, I have developed a strong, working knowledge
of automotive design and demonstrated leadership and
communication skills. I also work as an Undergraduate Teaching
Assistant for the College of Engineering helping first-year students
learn design fundamentals using MATLAB and Inventor. I am
seeking a co-op or internship for this summer. I am excited about
the prospect of contributing to X Company’s commitment to
excellence and innovation.”
