Electrical and computer engineering faculty members Andrea Serrani and Wei Zhang have been selected as Faculty Fellows for the 2013 Air Force Summer Faculty Fellowship Program.

The program, sponsored by the Air Force Office of Scientific Research (AFOSR) and administered by the American Society for Engineering Education, offers hands-on exposure to Air Force research challenges at participating Air Force research facilities. Fellows have the opportunity to build professional relationships with other participants and participating Air Force scientists and engineers; learn more about Air Force research needs and foster continued research at their institutions; and perform high-quality and meaningful research with their Air Force mentors.

Associate Professor Andrea Serrani’s 10-week research plan, entitled "Adaptive Fault-tolerant Control and Stable Flight Recovering for 6-DOF Hypersonic Vehicle Models," will focus on the design of reconfigurable flight control architectures for hypersonic cruisers.

Assistant Professor Wei Zhang will spend eight weeks on his project entitled, "Cooperative Control of Autonomous Systems in Uncertain Information Environments," which involves designing cooperative control strategies for multiple UAVs to search ground intruders.

Both ECE faculty members will conduct their research at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio.
